Faraya: The Ulimate Panaromic View

I’ve been priding myself for the past good while for being someone consistent with my fitness activities. Like so many of us, I have my lazy days of course, but overall, I am considered an active person – whether it be rock climbing, running, yoga, or just going to the gym – I try to make sure I’m getting that heart rate up at least 4 times a week.

This past Saturday, I challenged myself against beautiful nature – the wind and rain and hard terrain (made that rhyme even!) – and gave myself a total body workout in Faraya. The “Ski” mountains of Lebanon, which unfortunately were not open for skiing this year, but allowed for a truly amazing and breathtaking hike – probably the most difficult hike of my life (but I haven’t really done much hiking in my life though, sadly).

I don’t want to say much more about this, because I actually have photos that will help paint the picture. We hiked from about 1800m above sea level to approximately 2500m, in 4 hours, through strong winds and slushy snow. We fell down, laughed, took pictures, got some good strength training during the way and best of all? we challenged ourselves and won.

Not all fitness needs to be boring, and not everyone needs to follow the same guidelines – be adventurous, try out different ways to be active and stick to those you enjoy. Make your life fit and fun – IN YOUR OWN WAY.

    1. It was!!! but worth every bit of it! I’m guessing its not easy to go swimming now, and i know you enjoy that the most 🙂 gluck getting yourself back into it!!

  1. Very adventurous outdoorsy couple…I have a technical question about the stats, I once used a pedometer to count my steps, is there a similar gadget out there that tells you how many calories I am burning per day?

    1. It depends on what you mean by gadgets. There are lost of apps that can do this, it’ll give you an estimate based on the activity you select and age/height/weight. Also, there are actual gadgets you can wear that can do that. I personally use the fitbit – its a wristband that it calculates steps, active minutes, and calories. other options are nike fuelband, and the UP. each has pros and cons of course so it will depend on what you’re looking for exactly. Hope this helps!! 😀
