Make Your Own Bread with 3 Ingredients!

I might have embellished in my title a little, because its actually 5 ingredients – but they are SO minor and easy that you probably already have them in your kitchen. Before further ado, let’s get the bread rolling!

homemade bread!

You will need:

  • 2 cups flour (it was my first try so I used regular white flour, but I do definitely recommend whole wheat or a mixture of both at least)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (3 if you are NOT  concerned with fat and caloric content and just want yummy bread)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

How to:

1- Add all the dry ingredients and mix well
bread dough2- Combine oil with 1/4 cup of water and then mix with the dry ingredients. Slowly add the rest of the water, as needed. The final dough should be thoroughly mixed without being sticky so you might not actually need all this water, OR you might need a little more. As you knead the dough, you’ll be able to tell better how much water to use.

3- Divide the dough into 8 smaller balls.

4- Roll the balls and flatten COMPLETELY. Make sure they are very thin but not torn.rolled dough

5- Heat a nonstick saucepan, cook each side for about a minute (you do not need oil for this step)

6- VIOLA! You have homemade tortilla-like bread! Enjoy!

The AWESOME news here is that this is absolutely delicious, low in fat and all the fat in this recipe is omega 3 (healthy fats!); contains no additives, sugar, or unknowns. So the best advise here is invest in good quality + high fiber flour and you’ve got all you need! Y-U-M!!

Enjoy it for breakfast with some labneh and veggies like I have been. Bon appetit!

  1. I stumbled across your site today and took down this recipe to try for my wife. Quite easy, thanks for sharing it! I also used white flour as that was all we had, but I added a teaspoon (maybe a little less) of turmeric to the mix. The yellow color was outstanding and it left these little red freckles scattered all over the bread as it cooked. It was a work of art! I need to work on making each sheet as thin as I can, the rolling pin I used was less than ideal. Anyway, great idea. My wife loved it and I can use it to make bread for various dishes now.

    1. Hello Khalil! I was so happy to read ur comment! Glad u and mrs. enjoyed it! I’m going to use ur suggestion for next time! thanks! 🙂

      1. I made it again tonight, to go with a chicken dish. You don’t need a lot of the turmeric, I reduced the amount by half and it still made the strong yellow color with little red dots. Since turmeric doesn’t really change the taste I guess the amount is up to personal preference, but a little goes a loooong way. Thanks for posting the recipe!
