Strawberry Deliciousness

I noticed that last week I didn’t post any recipes, so I decided to start this week with a yummy and super easy recipe, that works as dessert and a snack.

You will need: photo 1(2)

  • 2 cups zero fat milk
  • 1.5 – 2 cups  zero or low fat yogurt (the more you add yogurt the thicker it will be, and the more you’ll be able to taste it – so if you’re not a fan of strawberry yogurt go down to 1.5 cups only or even 1 cup, and just add more milk)
  • 2 cups strawberries
  • 2 cups ice
  • 2-3 tablespoons sugar (depending on how sweet you want it to be, I used 3 because I consider this my dessert)

  How to:

1- pour the sugar onto the yogurt and blend well.

2- add strawberries and all ingredients in a food processor or blender and mix under completely liquid. blended

servings = this will make anywhere between 1.5-1.75 liters which can total to 6-8 cups

calories/cup = 101 calories strawberry smoothie An ice cream scoop is between 180-300 calories per scoop  and this tastes better, and you would be saving AT LEAST 80 calories! I have to point out here that strawberries have crazy benefits, including antioxidants and low caloric intake – however, they also contain high levels of pesticides. This is because strawberries grow very close to the ground and often get “chewed” first by worms – to avoid this, farmers use pesticides. Strawberries don’t have “skin” to peel, so it becomes difficult to remove these pesticides. It is recommended that if you are using fresh strawberries that you wash them thoroughly – also, avoid consuming too many in general. This is a poor way to end a post, but I know that many find strawberries irresistible anyway, so if you’re going to eat them, better be more educated on them!
