The latest study by by researchers at the Columbia Center for Children’s Environmental Health, is suggesting a possible link between BPA detected in urine samples of children and later problems with breathing. What is BPA? It is short for Bisphenol A and is readily used commercially. At times it coats the inside of food cans, it can also be found in certain plastic containers;or is sometimes found on cash register receipts.
The study was done on a group of 568 mothers and their children. The urine samples taken were then tested for BPA. Researchers found what can, at best, be described as a group of positive associations (not cause and effect) between BPA and breathing problems.
This study will probably trigger more much needed research, which will hopefully be able to give us a clearer idea on whether such a causation exists or not.
